What This Mama Wore: Looking Chic in the Heat

The Houston heat has given us a break with some cool rain, but they’re forecasting a return of our sun after this weekend! We have a unique climate in Houston; it’s called HOT & HUMID. During the summer, I often wear my hair up and opt for thin clothing. I was ecstatic when I saw one of my favorite bloggers feature a no-heat curling headband on her blog a few months back, because it gave me a new summer hairstyle idea!

Rolled Hairstyle Idea - all you need is a stretchy headband! | Beauty and the Binky blog

Just like my bloggy buddy, Iulia, rolled her hair into the no-heat curling headband, I rolled my hair into a strechy headband. I was headed to a baby shower and I was actually attempting to let my hair dry into curls from this method, but I ran out of time! (My hair is extremely long and thick, so I was a complete fool for thinking that it would dry over night while wrapped up like this!) It worked out nicely, considering it was such a hot day that my hair would have stuck to my sweaty back anyways! I loved the way my hair looked rolled up into a headband, so I just tucked the headband into the roll and bobby pinned a few places! I have worn my hair like this quite a few times now! I’m in love!

I shared my Memorial Day shopping cart from J. Crew on Instagram, which included this adorable little palm tank! As soon as I got it, I knew I’d want to pair it with this blush leather skirt. I love olive and blush together! This skirt has also been the most versatile piece in my closet, surprisingly! I love the blush color that matches well with a variety of other items in my closet. The leather aspect gives it an automatic chicness that I sincerely adore. I feel like it takes any outfit to the next level! I paired this outfit with a little snakeskin clutch and some neutral strappy heels to coordinate with the palm tank.
